Dynamic Rotary Mixer Nozzles

Dynamic Mixer Nozzles

Dynamic epoxy mixing nozzles are a type of mixing nozzle for two-component epoxies and similar materials. They are used with an externally controlled rod on a machine or gun that spins or rotates the internal element to actively and continuously blend the resin and hardener as they are dispensed. This ensures a more uniform mix. The "RM" and "MSR" differs from a static mixer, which relies on a fixed internal element structure to mix the components.

In dynamic mixing, unlike that of motionless mixing, the elements within the mixer rotate. This makes the RM and MSR series ideally suited for hard-to-mix foams and urethane elastomers. Their low cost allows the entire static mixer to be discarded, eliminating costly cleaning procedures associated with dynamic mixing. RM series static mixers are designed with a thread to stepped end which allows for fast flow or the use of a luer lock tip adapter for more precision. MSR series static mixers use a stepped outlet end that can also use luer lock tip adapters.

- Dynamic mixing action: The internal elements rotate (often powered by the dispensing equipment), which improves blending - especially for low-viscosity or hard-to-mix materials.
- Disposable design: Many are designed to be single-use, eliminating the need for cleaning and reducing contamination risk.
- Precision dispensing: They allow for accurate, consistent application, which is critical in industrial settings like electronics, automotive, or aerospace manufacturing.
- Compatibility: Typically used with meter-mix dispense machines and can handle higher pressures.

How it works
- Two-component epoxy: The nozzle works with a two-component epoxy where a resin and a hardener must be mixed together for the epoxy to cure.
- Dispensing: The two components are pushed through the nozzle from separate cartridges simultaneously.
- Internal mixing: Inside the nozzle, a spiral element rotates (often driven by an automated system or a specific application gun).
- Uniform mix: This spinning action creates a very thorough and uniform mix, resulting in a more consistent and reliable product compared to static mixers.
- Discard initial mix: The first portion of the mixed epoxy that comes out of the nozzle should be discarded to ensure a uniform colour and texture.

Advantages
- Better uniformity: The active, rotating mixing provides a more consistent and uniform mix.
- Faster application: The dynamic mixing system is often part of an automated or semi-automated dispensing system, allowing for much faster application almost twice the application speed.
- Reduced waste: Larger cartridges used with these systems reduce waste by requiring less frequent changes.
- Increased productivity: Faster application and less waste lead to greater productivity and lower production costs.
- Less air entrapment: Spinning elements reduce pin holes within the blend.

If you're working with reactive resins or need a cleaner, more efficient way to mix and apply two-part materials, these nozzles are a solid choice. The mixers feature the industry standard 16.7mm diameter bell mouth housing found on many cartridges and machine dispensers.

Adhesive Dispensing Ltd provide a wide range of equipment options for dispensing almost all assembly fluids - from watery liquids, solvents, primers and activators through to thick pastes, sealants, silicones, gels and epoxies.
